Biography

Rodney B. Murray, PhD

e-Learning executive, podcaster, pharmacologist, motorcyclist, and militant optimist.

Dr. Rod Murray is executive director of academic technology at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. His team is responsible for learning management systems, instructional design, classroom technology, online course development, and technology training for faculty and staff.

Prior to joining USciences in 2008, Dr. Murray was the founding director of the Office of Academic Computing at Thomas Jefferson University where he also taught pharmacology to sophomore medical students, and graduate students in biomedical sciences at Drexel University. He continues to teach his speciality, pharmacokinetics.

He earned his PhD in pharmacology from Temple University School of Medicine, and has published in the area of neuropharmacology, and co-authored a book on pharmacologic calculations.

As you might guess, Rod is an early adopter of technology, especially relating to the Internet and World Wide Web, having presented at the 2nd International WWW Conference in 1994.

He has also produced a monthly e-learning technology podcast, Rod’s Pulse Podcast, for over 12 years, which is syndicated on Inside Higher Ed.
